The primary responsibilities of this role, as Principal Mechanical Engineer, is to lead the mechanical effort on large project and teams as necessary.
The incumbent will:
• Be responsible for leading the mechanical effort on large projects;
• Provide a high level of technical competence;
• Prepare technical specifications for the process equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers and pressure vessels on assigned projects;
• Provide expertise and assistance to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering;
• Keep abreast of new technologies and contact manufacturers of new equipment and services to make presentations and conduct seminars, as appropriate.
The selected candidate is required to possess the following:
• Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of experience in chemical or petrochemical facility design;
• Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of experience in chemical or petrochemical facility design;
• Multiple aspects of Mechanical Engineering, including preparing equipment specifications, preparing technical evaluations, reviewing fabrication drawings, calculations, inspection and testing procedures from purchase through shipment
• Software such as PV elite and/or Compress
• Experience and exposure to multiple aspects of Mechanical Engineering such as an EPC firm specifying and procuring equipment, QA with equipment manufacturer or fabricator, construction or production in a related processing industry;
• Familiarity with the application and scope of relevant US Codes and Standards such as ASME, API, and TEMA;
• Background in operability principals and maintenance requirements of the diversity machinery used in the chemical industry;
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
• Collaborative team player, and capable of working well with people across hierarchies;
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Willingness and ability to travel 20%-40% of time, as projects dictate;
• Willingness to pursue advanced education or training.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Professional Engineering License;
• U.S. Citizenship.
