Aseptic Processing
Berkeley Union employees have first preference for this position. If there are no qualified Union applicants following the completion of the one week posting period, other salaried or external candidates will be considered.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities
Assist with the manufacturing of licensed, commercial sterile product in an aseptic environment utilizing computer operated equipment. Manufacturing includes facility and equipment cleaning, aseptic filling, lyophilizing, capping, preparing and sterilizing assemblies, tanks, and other various types of equipment, and supporting buffer formulation and the sterile bulking process.

Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications: Requires two years of college in physical and/or biological science coursework, i.e. chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, physics, and physiology. Relevant equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of some or all of the educational requirements. Must have proven written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate critical decision-making skills. Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English. Must have experience in aseptic A/B gowning and processing techniques, comfortable working without makeup and jewelry, and have good hygiene practices. Experience working in a cGMP environment. Strict adherence to cGMPs is required. Knowledge and experience with software typically used with Windows operating system and be able to navigate HMIs (human machine interfaces).

Physical Qualifications: Must be able to work in a variety of clean room environments wearing required clean room apparel. Perform facility and equipment cleaning using disinfectants and wearing required protective equipment. Safely use standard laboratory chemicals and sanitization agents. Stand for long periods at a time. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., work safely, and know when to request help when moving heavy objects. Using a stepladder may be required when installing filters and collecting samples. The candidate must not have unusual sensitivity to disinfectants or chemicals that emit odors.

Equipment and materials used: Computer controlled and monitored equipment including, but not limited to: buffer and bulking formulation, vial rinser, tunnel sterilizer, aseptic filler, ALUS loading/unloading system, lyophilizer, aluminum overseal capper and tray loader, autoclaves, parts washer, automated sanitization chamber, COP, CIP, and SIP skid, vacuum verification system, analytical balances and floor scales, SOPs, batch records, protocols and engineering instructions, safety equipment and typical laboratory chemicals or supplies.
