Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the EHS Manager, has overall responsibility for:
*interpreting safety legislation and company policies to maintain regulatory compliance and continually improve plant safety performance;
*developing, improving, and implementing safety work processes across the plant;
*providing safety leadership and exercising influence across the plant to drive improved plant EHS results through leadership, improved systems, and employee ownership;
*investigating safety situations and recommending actions that result in improved employee and plant safety performance;
*working closely with Operations and Reliability leaders to improve safety performance.
Qualifications:
Required Skills:

B.S. in Engineering or Safety
3+ years’ experience as a Safety Engineer
Detailed knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance assurance
Demonstrated commitment to safety
Ability to work with and communicate effectively with all levels in the organization
Ability and willingness to effectively lead change
Ability to influence others and gain commitment to new ways of performing work
Ability to think and active creatively to engage and motivate workers toward good safety behavior
Must be able to work with other areas to resolve safety issues and problems, and be able to exhibit a high degree of teamwork and cooperation
Must be organized and able to manage multiple activities with minimal oversight

Desired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Experience communicating with OSHA / governmental regulators
Experience with root cause analysis (RCA) and cause mapping (Think Reliability Excel templates)
Experience conducting incident investigations working with diverse groups/backgrounds to arrive at accurate and meaningful safety solutions
Experience executing "cold eye reviews"
Working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and skill sets
Experience identifying risks and assigning resources for risk mitigation
Experience developing safety improvement programs and communicating/training hourly employees
Experience with the elements of Process Safety and Conduct of Operations (ConOPS)
Experience working with plant operations groups to identify safety gaps and develop solutions
Six Sigma Green Belt certification
